Re: [foodallergyautism] Found a lotion, I think!

I use this (they have a pediatric formula at Whole Foods and it is blue) on my kids (two of which have dry skin and are prone to eczema) and have for over a year.  My son (PDD) usually reacts to everything but this he does not.  We use refined emu oil (very expensive though) at might after bath.  This combo seems to work!

Wow, that's good news!  I've seen ShiKai brand but never paid attention to the ingredients. I sure wonder what that "vegetable wax" stuff is.

Hope it goes well!

Well, after many weeks of searching I think I may have found a lotion
I can use on my son.  I bought it today at Whole Foods.  It is ShiKai
brand Borage Dry Skin Therapy.  I put it all over one of his arms
after school today and no reaction.  I will try it again tomorrow
morning as I am going on a feild trip with his class and will be
around if he reacts to it.  It contains aloe vera, safflower seed oil,
jojoba seed oil, borage seed oil, "vegetable wax," shea butter and
some other ingredients that look pretty benign (vit. c, vit. e and an
amino acid.  I am so excited.  It isn't scented, but it has a really
nice texture and feel to it.  It was expensive: $12.99? but if it
works it will be worth it.  He doesn't have super dry skin, but he
does have it sometimes and it would be nice to have something to put
on him.  I was getting ready to make my own and still might if this
doesn't work.

Jenny

Meghan, I noticed the bottle said "adult formula." Is there any difference between adult and pediatric? Where do you find the emu oil? Can I do the same with...
