Hi Tasha,
Gosh, you're in Alaska - I hope the trip to see a DAN doc was worth
it! Who did you see, and were they helpful? There used to be airlines
that had peanut-free flights, might be worth checking out if peanut's
one of your son's worse reactions. I'm sure you'd still have to
cover/wipe everything. A contact sensitivity makes everything so
hard. Are airborne allergens a problem too?
Antifungals have been helpful for Tom. His yeast problem is severe.
We rotate yeast meds - Dr. Mumper uses a 6-monht Sid Baker protocol
of rotating antifungals. Tom's had Nystatin, Diflucan, Sporanox,
Ketoconazole. He's responding to ketoconazole best after our last CSA
test showed which yeast strains he had and which meds targeted that
strain. He's been on antifingals for the better part of the past 2
years, and whenever we stop, he regresses. His liver tests have
always been fine, and Dr. Mumper is content to keep him on
ketoconazole indefinitely. We do liver tests every 2 months.
As for charcoal, I don't know if I'd risk it with a cellulose
sensitivity. Tom handles the die-off okay, and it usually doesn't
last more than 2-3 days. At the worst it's like a mild flu. We've
been able to treat any fever over 102* with compounded ibuprofen
suppositories (our pharmacy will do them in any number of carriers,
we settled on cocoa butter since Tom tolerates palm oil - so far so
good).
I am curious - what are "tri-salts" and what do they do?
