Welcome to PAPDA. This is a Florida based support, resources and advocacy group for individuals, parents and families dealing with prescription drug addiction/abuse. The group was founded by Lynn Locascio from Palm Harbor, FL. Lynn's son became addicted to Oxycotin after it was prescribed to him for a neck injury sustained in a car accident.
PAPDA’s mission is to bring awareness regarding prescription drug addiction and abuse to all areas of our communities. Our focus is to communicate the need for changes regarding laws and education concerning Prescription Drugs to our Senators, legislators, Federal and Local government agencies, Law Enforcement and Educational Institutions and incorporate their power and authority to meet this mission.
The goals PAPDA has set to meet this mission are:
Provide moral support and resources to families dealing with Prescription Drug addiction and abuse in their lives.
Work with Local, State and Federal government and Law Enforcement to bring change to laws regarding prescription drugs.
Address the issue of reclassifying Oxycotin with the FDA.
Educate the community, parents and children, regarding the dangers involved with Prescription Drugs.
Sponsor forums, seminars and Health Fairs to educate the community.
Work with the Florida Department of Health and Law Enforcement to report physicians that over prescribe drugs for the sole purpose of profit.
This group is not limited to parents and family members. If you know someone you care about suffering from addiction, have lost a loved one, or simply want to provide support to those that have, please join. You are NOT alone!!
