Hi
I have just joined this small group as I have a foster daughter who
was 3 yesterday and has just been diagnosed as having FHS. I have an
appointment with the geneticist but not until August so know
virtually nothing abut it. I am hoping someone on here can tell me
more! What is the prognosis for the future for a child with this
syndrome? Any information will be gatefully received as Casey is
supposed to be leaving for adoption. We have tried placing her for
adoption before, last year, but she freaked when I wasnt around and
we had to end it after 2 months.
I will tell you a little about Casey then hopefully someone can tell
me what is typical of the syndrome and what is just her! LOL
Casey has been with me since she was 9 weeks old and has always been
borderline failure to thrive tho she eats well enough. She can repeat
words after you quite well and has quite a large vocabulary but
doesn't tend to string many words together. Her fine motor skills are
excellent and she picks things up very quickly and seems to be
generally quite bright. She is still toddling and a bit unsteady for
her age, tho doesn't fall much. She has blonde curly hair (tho her
mum was dark)and is a little poppet! The main problem I have with her
is she has horrendous tantrums, is this a part of the syndrome
generally or just her? She is also very clingy and takes a long time
generally to get to know people and seems very insecure. She is very
much the little girl with the little curl, she can be a real sweetie
but some days she is horrendous all day and I cannot pinpoint the
reason!
