Description

The original "PILATES GROUP". The name of this group is "PILATES GROUP" I think I was the FIRST Pilates Group of any kind on Yahoo. Pilates was not popular when I started "PILATES GROUP". Boy has it come a long way. I am glad to have been a pioneer!

Pilates said, "In 10 sessions you will feel better, in 20 sessions you will look better, and in 30 sessions you will have a new body."

Please share your knowledge and experiences with others. Even though Pilates is new to some of us it is rapidly gaining in popularity in the USA. This is a great therapy for recouperating from injuries. It has also proven to be beneficial to musculo-skeletal diseases. I have greatly benefited from this exercise.

What IS Pilates?

Pilates IS a method of physical conditioning that focuses on breathing and precise body movement. Practicing Pilates helps you to develop a healthy, balanced body and mind.

Pilates helps you become more limber and flexible, stand taller, improves your posture, and increases your bone density. It tones and strengthens your body. Pilates moves are designed to work on your core area (ABS).

Pilates IS not just for girls! Joseph H. Pilates originated this practice for soldiers recuperating from injuries during WWII in England. He later opened studios in New York, Chicago and across the US. At age 75 was very physically fit and youthful reminding one of Charles Atlas Ads. Joseph H. Pilates developed a specialized set of equipment and techniques. Many are still in use today.

There is something in Pilates for everyone. Pilates is done at your own pace with regard to your own strengths and weaknesses. The results are long, slender thighs and calves, a flat stomach and a body similar to a dancer.
