Dear Paula
Welcome to the group. I know this is probably freaking you out, but try not to
feel alarmed and be glad that the doctor caught this early. Here is a bigt hug
(((((((()))))))) Just know that I am here and I care, because I have been
through this with a husband, and I have seen every stage of it, and learned from
the mistakes we made. I know that you do not want to think about the what if's,
but there are some things that you NEED to know.
First of all you are doing the right thing by getting this seen about. By all
mens do not put it off. With Melanoma especially, time is the enemy. Second of
all, after the operation, be sure that you are scheduled to have regular check
ups to be looked over very well. I mean every 3 months for the next 5 to 7
years at least. This is to ensure that even the slightest thing will be
detected. The doctor should feel all of your lymph nodes to make sure there is
not any abnormal swelling because it can get into the lymph system in some
cases, and you should be looked at from head to foot to make sure there are no
places on your skin that resemble Melanoma. If your doctor does not see this as
a necessity, it is time to find a new doctor, because these are the necessary
steps to reduce the likelihood of allowing it to progress it if ever did return.
Don't get upset, because it does not necessarily mean that it will, but it
might, so you need to take every precaution with your life. Do whatever it
takes.
Paula, I will be praying for you that all goes well with your operation, and for
your peace of mind as well. Be sure to check the "links" pages. There is some
informative websites available there. If you have any more questions we are
right here.
Your friend, Angela ^i^
