"Our Story Mr. and Mrs. President"

Dear Friends in Pain,

As mentioned a campaign will be launched to educate the President
and First Lady on the true needs of those in NIP (nonmalignant intractable
pain). The DEA has reached a level of shutting down physicians who
prescribe "opioids" for those in pain denying the following:

1. Opioids are the safest method of managing NIP.
2. Physicians are licensed professional and medically trained;
the DEA is overriding their decision making.
3. No physicians oversee these actions, there are physicians
being charged with murder, and patients being jailed.
4. We have lost 26,000 physicians practicing PM in the
United states in just FOUR years. We have only 4,000
remaining. Medical schools are telling future physicians
DO not practice this specialty.

The goal is education. Being from Midland, Texas I know the attitude and
culture of many out here, and the Bush family is no exception. It is my goal
with the help of my two pain support groups and those like you who suffer to
allow the President and his wife to know the story.

However, this story is not "poor me" or an attack on the DEA. This all
goes down to politics and finances. We must be the proud group we are,
I seek those who are willing and able to give the following in a brief format:

1. A sentence or two depicting their medical diagnoses.
2. What pain management had done in positive aspects of your
life:

a. Return to work
b. Return to school, new profession
c. Lessened disability, depression, contributions to church,
society, etc.
d. How it was before PM for instance (I was unable to walk
without a walker, and slept but an hour a night).
3. A thank you to our Leader for listening to our plea as a group, and
for you as the individual.

Yes there is to be no anger. Anger is a symbol of HURT and yes many
have committed suicide due to NIP, and if we as a group do not hold our
heads up with integrity we will have no relief. It is my astute belief that
this
will make a difference to us. As most know I'm a professional nurse,
published
reseracher, advocate for those in NIP, HIV and mental disorders, and a
sufferer of such severe NIP that my CNS (central nervous system) shuts
down. Literally without PM I can and will die. I run two support groups for
those
in NIP on Yahoo (MSN) one being closed, the other open for newcomers to
chronic pain.

Your thoughts, prayers, and honest simple explanation can make a
difference.
The key is education; we cannot dictate the actions of the DEA, but we can
gently show that we are not the "drug addicts" and criminals depicted unjustly
by law enforcement. They have used "dirty tactics" we need not do so.

I would appreciate your input on this I will be formulating a cover
letter to each
party to be addressed; the President and also his wife. One must not overlook
his or her part in this campaign, how it affects you or your loved one. We
cannot resort to the tactics used by those not medically knowledgeable or
treating our pain.
