There are lots of things you can do to start to prepare before your book gets
here. I think we had posted some in the files. The more prepared you are the
easier it is to do. Are you doing the original fat smash or the extreme? It
makes a difference.
1) Go through your kitchen and take stock of what you have. Begin to give
away/throw away things you won't be able to eat on the diet for the next few
months. (if possible...this isn't always possible when others in the house are
not on the diet) Keep in mind it doesn't hurt for others to begin to eat
healthier too though. We put all our allowed foods in one cabinet to make it
easier during detox/phase 1. It doesn't hurt to buy a cheap scale for weighing
things to help you get a better idea on portion size at first. Also if you
don't have a set of measuring cups. It kind of helps at first to help you learn
how much your realllllly eating.
2) Start doing some moving. Walking, stair climbing, bike riding... what ever
you like to or can do. When you start the original one you will be doing 30
minutes of exercise a day. He prefers you don't do weight training during the 9
day detox/phase one. If your doing the extreme... I am not sure since I haven't
read that book.
3) If your addicted to coffee/soda, etc start weaning yourself down. On the
original diet there is only milk, water and 2 cups of herbal tea a day during
detox. Start looking for some great herbal teas. There are some really good
ones out there. If you check the files you will see FAQ that Dr Ian answered.
There are some things he approved that are not mentioned in the book. Such as
green tea. Go to the files and read the benifits of green tea... it may help
with the diet. He also approved certain rice cakes.
4) Start collecting up recipes!!! This is reallllly great if your doing the
original fat smash. Since there is no meat the first 9 days it helps to have
some of the great recipes people have found/come up with, etc. Check the files
and print some off. The pizza sounds weird but it turned out to be pretty good.
It has an oatmeal/garbonzo bean crust. Check our links section. We have
compiled some great links to help.
5) If there are some foods or something your not sure about you can always
post and ask but if your in a hurry you can go to the message board and there is
a place to type in a key word to search all the past messages. Your answer may
already be there from others that have gone through it.
6) Relax! If nothing else this is more about changing your life for the
better. Eating healthier, getting more exercise and improving your life. No
one does it perfect and we all pretty much still lost some weight. Things like
if you were on a diet before and just lost a lot of weight, etc can all make
your results different. One thing most people noted that after a few days of
being on phase 1 detoxing they really began to feel great. We just started
detox again to help after the holidays. It may help to read the whole book to
kind of see where the plan is heading. It also helps in answering some
questions such as when can I eat this or that again.
Good luck and happy smashing the fat!

Hi again. I have a week and a half before my book gets here- what
should I be doing for exercise? Thanks!
