Hanging in there

I've been on the diet now for several weeks. Not sure how many, to be
honest. 4 to 6. Something like that.

Pros? Its normal now. Its beyond normal. I do sometimes get hungry
before the window starts, but I don't break it unless I have to.
"Have to" generally means Monday. I volunteer at a soup kitchen type
thing on Mondays. I generally start my window at 6, and that thing
starts at 6:30. So, I'd not eat and be serving food for a few hours.
Not a great plan. During the first couple weeks I felt a little
dizzy sometimes, so I always ate before I went to this thing. Now, I
don't get that, but sort of a just in case I eat before I go.

Anyway, diet is easy when you adjust.

Cons? The weight hasn't really come off much. I have learned a few
things. Nuts, almonds and pecans mostly, became a staple in my diet.
Mostly because of the "good fats". While doing pro-fat diets, the
almonds aren't so bad. The non-fiber carb count isn't actually that
high. The problem? When you starting thinking calories count, nuts
are a really bad option. I put this together one night when I ate
most of a can of CVS roasted almonds. If you do the math (say 8
ounces, 170 cal/oz), about 1300 calories. I've eaten more than that
in a sitting at times as well. Plus, its not like that's all I ate
during the window.

So, nuts are mostly out. Keeping an actual food journal now. Looks
like I'm staying in the 1500-2000 range.

Still, a little frustrating.

I have noticed something else that might be going on. I generally
fluctuate in weight by several pounds between the time I get up and
the middle of the day. Fluid intake. Water, coffee, etc. Water
fluctuation seemed to be exaggerated on a diet of this type. Today,
however, I noticed that mid-day I was only a handful of pounds
heavier. Maybe the body adjusts and doesn't expel as much water
overnight? So, maybe I have lost a little weight but the morning
weigh in isn't changing because I'm not expelling as much each night?

I don't know. I'm just going to keep adjusting the diet and workout
plan slightly until I see movement. We'll see how it goes. I feel
like I'm making progress.

Eddie - the power napping may well be part of your transition. The change is big enough that there can be some alterations in sleep patterns for a while. It...
