Define "binge"?
I do tend to eat quickly, myself, but I always have. I notice
my dog, cat, geese, chickens, and daughter do the same.
They are all healthy!
What I have found keeps me from simply overeating, is
to eat more fibrous foods. Like I mentioned in a previous
email, glucomannan noodles are quite filling and satisfying.
Some foods, like popcorn, I just keep eating til the bowl
is gone, so I try to avoid that one! But I will eat a huge
bowl of stir fry vegies: broccoli, onions, beef, ginger, kimchi.
Why not? You can't gain weight on broccoli, no matter how much
you eat.
In times past though, I would "binge" on say, a whole box
of chocolates. THAT, by any standard, is not a great thing
to do! If you need to chew on something, chew on something
fibrous. I think in times past, people at a lot more
low-cal chewy foods, like cabbage and collards, and maybe
we just need to chew stuff sometimes.
I also read once that people have a need to eat a certain
volume of food per meal. If your foods are very concentrated,
you can't reach that volume without eating too many
calories. So eating some bulky but low-cal foods
fills up your gut and makes you feel "good". But
a lot of our modern foods are just way too concentrated,
calorically. And for me, one of the worst problems is nuts ...
they are healthy, but very concentrated.
