Mary's Place Pediatric Rehab now offers the Interactive Metronome®
(IM), a computer-based technology that enhances motor planning,
sequencing and timing in children and adults. IM can improve
speech/communication, coordination, and learning, as these are
performance-based skills that depend on the ability to plan and
sequence actions and ideas. Free assessments are being provided to
patients at their Marlton, NJ location.
Case studies have shown proven benefits of IM in children with ADHD,
autism, cerebral palsy, auditory processing disorder, sensory
integration dysfunction, social skill deficits, language delays,
apraxia and learning disorders. Additionally, it can help with many
fine and gross motor skill delays.
The Interactive Metronome involves the principles of the traditional
musical metronome, combined with the precision of a personal computer
to create engaging interactive training exercises. The 15-hour
program uses head phones along with hand and foot sensors to
coordinate movements to computer-generated musical beats.
