Double microtrack was born out of necessity, when I realized that the first track was far away from the root (attachment) of the conjunctiva. I injected air in to the anterior to make the eye firm. The conjunctiva was brought down once again. This time I could really see the line from which the conjunctiva is reflected. The Fugo blade tip was passed through the very first conjunctival hole, then through the limbus so as to make a track that opened in the distal part of the subconjunctival space. MMC 0.025 % in lactated ringer was injected under the conjunctiva, before applying a 40 micron steel suture.
The two microtracks are at right angle to the limbus - one opening in the periphery of the angle and the other opening in the pre-trabecular clear cornea.
I think that a double track in this fashion reduces the chances of closure by the iris, while increasing the overall drainage volume.
