for the last guy to post... you got hosed.
i just quit egw at greenwood indiana, the number 1 store in the
company and i can attest to the fact that they scam everyone. if you
would have complained or threatened to walk....you could have paid no
more than 499 an eye even with your astigmatism and life time
enhancements.
also, i quit the company due to the horrible medical practices and
the rampant drug use.  employees and upper management would
frequently engage in drug use together and be paid with company
dollars to score drugs for the owners and national managers when they
were in town.  The lab would frequently use standard plastic lenses
when the customer had a note from their own doctor prescribing
polycarbonate lenses, as well as numerous other illegal medical
practices.
since i have left, i have heard that they have been bought by the
visioncare corporation and that the musa brothers only own a minority
share now.  everyone has been told that their jobs are no longer
secure and the coke head area managers and regionals are all scared.
ive also learned that they are getting rid of the "walk out" pricing
and the prices of frames will be on each one of them.
all in all, my time there was the worst experience of my life and i
would never recommend anyone go there, because you WILL get screwed,
either through pricing, or the fact that your glasses are not what
they say they are.

I cant speak for anyone else, but EGW/LVI was the best thing that
ever happened to me. I was lured in by the $299 deal. However when
it was all said and done, add $200 extra for my astigmatism, add
$200 extra per eye for elective insurance incase I needed
adjustments later, my total was just over  $1300... Not bad for
LASIK. Infact, incredibly cheap. It was a great experience and I
highly recommend them.. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I have filed a lawsuit aginst EGW here in Las Vegas for an
Optometrist who used to work at EGW locations here and in Reno,
Nevada. I would like to talk to other former employees about
accounting and billing practices or related problems others have had

I am a current employee of EGW in their West region.  My Regional
manager is Kris Schrage, if you want I can give you his cell phone
number.  He told our store that if someone needed corporate to give
the corporate number, 1-800-584-4150 and give his extension 3062, to
any patient with a problem.  If he heard a problem patient, we call
them PIA's, he would just delete the message.  My assistant manger
quit after being allowed to finish her 2 week notice period.  She
left because she didn't feel like lying to the pt's by using the
phone qoute sheet.  Where are the $29 SV lenses?  Where are the $59
FT Bifocals?  Where are the $89 progressives?  When I asked Kris this
he said we USED to sell AO Truvision for $89 a pair.  What a crock.

   An area manger came in today and asked how much for SV clear and
suns in a Guess and Liz Claiborne frame would cost I told her
orignally $149 for the frame and $59 for the lenses and $38 for tint
it came to $246 + Tax.  she left without taking a card and returned
10 minutes later and stated Pearle qouted me 2 for $120 can you match
it.  I said the best I could do is for for $138 complete with free
exam.  She wrote me up.  F**K her.

I have been in Optics for 6 years.  I am an ABO Certified Optician, I
feel like I am a used car sales man.

   Has anyone told the public about the fact tags on the frames?  On
the tags where the info on the frame is those 9 large numbers are
actually prices the Musa brothers want to sell the frame at. Just
substitute a 1 for any 6 in the code.  The 1st block of 3 numbers is
what the frame should be sold at, the last 3 numbers are the average
or next price down.  the middle 3 are the lowest they want it sold at.

But if you seem unsure about the sale, balk at the price and you can
get ANYTHING for 2 pairs complete for $99.00

You wont see any higher Ups   until   They need or
want something  from you then you wil hear It all or
if you didnt do what u were suppose to do......

Good luck to YOU   took me  a  few years  to  really
get to know them .... Your arent considered a loyal
employee  even after YEARS of employement  with them n
worked  you Butt off  They are only out for  themselves........

I have been working with EGW for a few months and just started doing
research (a little too late?) on the Internet about the company.  I
have not had any bad experiences so far, but now I am weary after
reading the posts here.

I don't want to be unemployed at a time like this, but if things do
start to become bad... I won't hesitate to get out ASAP.

I don't expect to meet any of the higher ups until after the first of
the year.  Will keep you all posted of how it goes

These guys are the biggest crooks in the business.  Did you know that they
got fined 1/2 million dollars by the Florida Attorney General.  Did you know
they are being investigated for racketeering.  Did you know that there are 2
class action suits pending.  Finally did you know they were investigated and
fined by the Florida department of labor for cheating employees out  of
bonuses and overtime pay,they also had to give back pay.

It is obvious you didn't reasearch this company before you agreed to sell
your soul to them( that is what you do if you choose to work for them).  They
should take these guys out(the Musas when they get Bin Laden.....the world
will be a better place.

I moved 1600 miles to egw, think I was getting a great company and job
stability.  I quite at egw because they promise a 90 day raise which is not
policy to give to employees no more.  But, my 90 day was a promotion to
assistant manager, for the Peoria store.  I fought for two months on my eval
getting retro for only one month out of two, but never recieved my money or
retro.  I took a four day weekend and kris schrage the regional manager said
he would investigate and call me back.  When they say they will call back,
don't expect a call in this lifetime.  I got back and I hear that the
brothers have put a freeze on all raises because of the economy.  The egw
economy is doing just fine in our district, so I don't know what they are
talking about.
If anyone could help me that is an old employee who has been done wrong by
egw please email me I have a case building and need your help.

It's been a while since I've worked for the musa brothers. I recently
found this site, and would like to congrats those would did something
to speak out. I am embrassed to say I was an assitant manager of the
Rockford IL, store. I left shortly after the expired contacts came
around. My manager and I were told to remove the dates and sell them.
I was never fired however, I call Mark Musa out on many wrong doings
of their company. Mark made it very clear to me that he owned the
company and if I could not treat him with the respect he deseverd he
would personally return to Rockford to fire me on spot. This little
show of power took place on the sale floor during business hour in
front of staff and patients. While I was an A.M I attended 2 court
dates, just because they  refused to refund money that patients
rightfully desevered. I finally realized the &750.00 a week was not
payment for managing, But payment for my self respect, When we had a
patient pass away three months after ordering her glass. The family
members requested a refund because she had not recevied the glass yet
and obviously would not need them anymore. When I informed corp. I
was told "No Refunds exchanges ONLY!".  So with out permission I
refunded her family apologized for the hassle and Quite! I am amazed
that they are still in Rockford with untrained staff. Right now to
the best of my knowlegde no one on in that store has more than  5mos
training in optics.

Anyone out there worked for this company? What is wrong with them?

It's in Spreadsheet format.  It was the only way they could preserve
all of the pertinent information so the file needs to be opened in
Excel or a similar program.  Although highly inconvenient, all of our
messages are in there.

Well, I'll just take this time to remind ya that you can change your
options so you can visit a message board instead of receiving
emails.  Although I don't think it'll be an issue since everyone
isn't going to be receiving 100s of emails everyday-if EGW is that
bad they'd be shut down for sure lol.

Right now all memberships will require approval.  I want to make sure
I have the right people subscribed to this first.  Once everyone is
more/less in (from the old board), then we can open up the membership.

The Member's list is only accessible to Moderators and Myself.  As of
yet there are no moderators.  There are a bunch of nifty features
such as the ability to post files and what not.

I have turned off the option to include attachments for now,
uploading a file should be a good alternative.  This way no one gets
a virus from an attachment.  Feel free to use the polls to help make
this message board the way you want it, I'm open to suggestions.
