Lots of doctors do prescribe them as mandatory for lasik. However
they are NOT a necessary item. Lots of refresh tears will do the
work. also if you don't have dry eyes then it might not be for you.
However, if you do have dry eyes, your eyes will be even more dry
after the procedure. The cost is BS. I can see maybe $50/ pair, but
wouldn't pay anymore then that.
