I am a male,72,diagnosed in 2000 with colon cancer.

called veg f ,now Avastin.
Recent cat scan and pet scan shows spread to both nodes of liver,
posible abdomianl mass(not sure)find out more tomorrow and adnopathy
of lungs and abdomen.
Having catscan and blood tests Fri. Start new regimin
Tuesday Oct.7th.
Have been discussing with various individuals, visited a
specialist, brought comparisoms of last scans and have talked via net
with several individuals. I have had to portocaths, one put in by a
radiologist, which caused some complications last year in December and
had to be removed. I wonder does anyone out there take a pill.
or what alternatives are available. I am somewhat
hesitant to continue since I see more lesions, larger
this time than before. My wife says, well you lead a fairly normal
life, you tire, have to keep out of sun and don't eat right. True,I also
have had skin cancer, had a cyst removed from my back and two from my
ear. I do wear sun screen and a hat and long sleeves. I am overweight
and don't like to drink a lot of water. I don't drink or smoke. I have
about 65% lung capacity due to asthma as a child. We
live in S.E. Florida, have a first rate oncologist.
Our insurance is HealthOptions a medicare and more HMO
administered by Blue CrossBlue Shield. They had a cancer
program called Quality Onclolgy, but it has changed.
They dropped prescription coverage last year, but will
reinstate some in January of 2004. Has anyone a similar
problem.? How are you handling it? Thanks for listening.
