Hi Eric,
Thanks for posting this. We've been doing curcumin for some time, along with
several other complementary agents. I think it is very important for colorectal
cancer patients to try curcumin. Sri Lanka - - perhaps the world center for
growing and cooking with turmeric, the spice that is the source for curcumin - -
has ZERO colon cancer and far less breast cancer than the USA. The problem with
curcumin, as is the case with most anticancer agents, is pharmacological - - how
do you get enough of it to the cancer cells? LEF.org sells "Super Curcumin"
with bioperine, which is one attempt to solve this problem. That is what we've
been using. The company that makes bioperine (black pepper) claims that when
added to other compounds like LEF does to its curcumin, it increases
"bioavailability" by 2000%. I hope that that is true and I'm sure they did some
limited testing on it. It's the best shot that we've found at getting
sufficient curcumin into the body to have some efficacy. I'm sure there will be
better solutions to this in the future. I know that there are some researchers
working at analogues, etc. You don't want to take LEF's 'Super Curcumin" with
other oral medicines because of this increase in bioavailability - - risk of
overdose. Grapefruit juice has this same action with certain medicines.
Hope things are going well for you and your dad!
Best,
Bill Cromwell
