Hi and welcome again.

1. Final Reminder: Annual Prediction Seminar - Feb 4 2005.
This is the date for our Annual Prediction Seminar. Each year
just before Chinese New year, I conduct a seminar on prediction
for the coming year. Luckily, it was quite accurate for the past year.

This event is only for subscribers of this newsletter. But you can bring

friends too. Tell me how many seats you want.

In this seminar, I am going to talk about a global phenomenon which

affects both you and me. It will be better if you understand it and make

full use of it, or you are going to suffer. There could be a lot of suffers.

2. I just made a new goal for 2005. I will complete a new book with 100%

originality by the end of this year. I condense every thought about how we

can develop ourselves into a workable framework. I see this book will be

my best book. I have a great aim. I want this book to be translated into

English and be a best-seller in the English speaking countries. Why all

our bestsellers are from the US or UK but not the other way round?

What is your great goal and great aim this year? Set one for yourself,

we can't live another 2005!

當一個人沒有人文思考、人文素養的時候，他就只是一個機器人，

欠缺生活品質的富裕度與豐富性(richness)。物質上的富有，遠不如

心靈上的富有來得重要。從事高科技的人看起來好像很忙碌，但我

們的忙碌是有節奏性的，所以我不會覺得厭煩，我們曉得自己為何

而忙。這一路走來這麼長遠，支撐我們的是生命的力量，是生命的

豐富性，是人文的深度。

我的生命之旅中，有幾句鼓勵自己的話：第一，學習是一種態度

，我對自己的投資亳不吝嗇，特別是在買書方面。

第二，我會給自己規劃許多時間讀書，為了要求讀書的效率，

我選擇付上代價，找間安靜恬適的茶藝館，給自己很好的quality

time去讀書。讀書是一種讀者與作者間的對話，重點不在讀，而是

在思考到底手上這本書，對你而言，代表什麼意義，你要去思考，

懂得反饋(feedback)。

讀書重質不重量，我寧可一天只讀半本書或一本書，然後好好告訴

自己，讀完這本書，我的生命、行為思考模式，會有多大的改變，

進而增強自己生命的力量。我在高中、大學時代就經常買書，舊書

攤我也常去。現在我都上網訂明天要出版的書，走在時代的最前端

，不斷跟著時代的腳步。一個人懂得去學習，懂得自己到底要什麼

，是很重要的。讀書不是最重要，最重要的是思考，因為在思考的

過程中，你會對自己有commitment(承諾)，來採取行動改變你的行

為。讀書最重要的是將書本裡的東西吸收變成你的。

人生導師，廣開視野：

另外，我給予在學的人的建議是：多參加社團活動，或者找尋人生

的導師。我們有所謂人生中的導師，請他觀察我的行為，給我意見

，人生中這一件事是很打緊的，通常一個人在不同階段，需要不同

的人生導師(mentor)。

一輩子的朋友，相互淬勵：

透過你的學習network，和與你興味相投的人連結，這些人會對你的

人生有很大的幫助。

社會不斷變化，你必須去掌握的部分，其實就是思考邏輯的精準度

，其實思考邏輯也在不斷改變，真正不變的是學習。Σ社及後期的

幾個社團，對我受益良多的是：第一，這些朋友的思考及談論的主

題，跟我蠻相近的，這是一種思考及辯論的淬勵，辯論的結果，我

已經不記得了，但當中思考邏輯、思考方法及過程成為我生命的一

部分，而這些朋友，我們已經有很多年沒見了，但我可以保證走在

路上絕對可以認出他來；這是終身的朋友，不會因為外表的蛻變而

有所質變，這是人格特質讓我們終其一生強烈地相互吸引。

我有很多的朋友，我們彼此互相幫助，share我們的ideas，而這些

朋友不見得常在我身邊，可能五年十年都沒碰面，但是見面的話，

就一見如故，心裡的感動很深，這是一輩子的朋友。

III. Keith's Point of View: See This year as 2010

Every year, I write some presuppositions to lead my life. Though

they might not be absolutely correct, they benefit me. They might

also benefit you, too. I wrote 6 presuppositions this year and I like

to share with you my first one here – See This year as 2010.

1. You can become a visionary. You always think ahead of

others. You will and can think of what is possible 5 years from

now. You make you future from the information in the future. No

one can create his/her future from the past.

2. This improves you decisions. When encountering a problem

and/or opportunity, you might ask yourself how will this affect your

2010.

3. You see more opportunties. Opportunities are about the

future. If this year is 2010, what will be happen?

V. My Personal Development Tips: Your Top 5 Inborn Assets

Everybody has some inborn assets. You do not need to learn to get

them. But they can be eroded during your growing up. The more you

can retain them, the more successful you are when they are combined

with your knowledge you learned in your life.

1. Your willingness to learn. When we were young, we all were very
eager to learn. We learned most during age 0 to 3. We learned the
most difficult and useful skills of walking, talking, etc.

2. Your enthusiasm. We did everything with great enthusiasm when
we were young. No matter how "useless" the job we adult see, children
totally immerse themselves into it. They can get great fun and learning
out of it.

3. Your open mind. We saw anything is possible when we were young.
When we get older, many of us turn into pessimists. Pessimism is
learned behaviour. We can unlearn it.

4. Your Curiosity. Everything seems to be new and strange to a child.
They explore them. As an adult, we see new and strange things being a
sign of danger and we tend to avoid them.

5. Your lack of dogma and jargon. A child do not have anything "must"
and "have to" be done. They have the widest scope of choices. They do
not speak any jargon with their parents. They say things in their simplest
form.

The above five are our truly assets for our success. We lost them gradually
as years passed. It is time for us to take stock of them. It is up to you to
decide whether you want to get back and retain them in your future life.
