Hi and welcome again.

1. Mark this date on your calendar - Feb 4 2005. This is the date

for our Annual Prediction Seminar. Each year just before Chinese

New year, I conduct a seminar on prediction for the coming year.

Luckily, it was quite accurate for the past year. If you want to see

In this seminar, I am going to talk about a global phenomenon which

affects both you and me. It will be better if you understand it and make

full use of it, or you are going to suffer. There could be a lot of suffers.

II. Weekly Cut & Paste: 少花錢，減欲望

一位什麼都做不好的家庭主婦，因為一場車禍失去了她的生命支

柱與經濟來源長達一個月，她必須靠安眠藥才能安眠，為了撫養

小孩子，她必須搭起鐵皮屋賣自助餐，但是她的身體裡面有一個

聲音在吶喊著：她想去做陶。做陶一直是她的天份，也是她生命

中的最愛，但是為了撫養小孩她不得不放棄這個最愛。但是日日

做，她還是夜夜想，她還是無法拋棄她的最愛。

一日她終於領悟到：我不一定要犧牲我的最愛，生活可以簡單過

，不可輕言放棄理想，於是她從她的食衣住行上面去精簡，並將

自己的欲望降到最低，如今她一個月只需花五千元(新台幣)，埋

首多年，她已經有了很好的成積。有人問她，還要撐多久？她說

：「這是我一輩子的事業。」

當年有一個老師給我們一個課外活動的題目，要我們不帶一毛錢

出去走一個小時，回來之後把你在路上看到的一切記錄下來。每

個同學都寫得很起勁，他們享受著這種純收穫的快樂。

老師說：「一無所有，也可以快樂的。」

有許多苦是因為欲望太多，有許多沮喪是因為你得不到你想要

的東西，有許多人不快樂，是因為自己做的事是自己沒興趣的

，甚至自己不知道自己興趣的東西是什麼?

找到沮喪的源頭，如果是欲望，是不是可以斬除？是不是可以眼

不見為淨？如果你沮喪的源頭是「不得志」，那麼你是否想過每

天做一些努力，划向它一些，一天接近它一些，這樣子會不會比

你自暴自棄、甚至墮落終日要好呢？

將一切欲望減少，知足知足，惜福惜福，你將會發現：你努力得

真實，活的快樂－－沮喪是什麼玩意？你完全不放在眼裡。

III. Keith's Point of View: Terrible Meanings of Life

Last week, I read an article from the 招職 magazine. They extracted

several message from their message board. Their topic is about

the meaning of life.

After reading some of the messages, I felt terrible, because their

readers' meanings of life is too terrible for anyone to read. Here

are some of their messages and my point of view:

What is an enriching life? Why do we have to experience the

process of being born, getting old, sick and dying? (My comment:

Because this is life. If you want to be a philosopher, continue

to ask "why". If not, how about asking "how" to get old

happily, how to have less illness and how to die gracefully!)

Life is painful, very painful if you are poor. Money means happiness.

No money means rich people can look down on you. (My comment:

Then please do something to become rich and look down on

others!)

I don't understand why I still feel very tired even I have 8 hours of

sleep. I am too tired to handle my daily life. I think I feel sick. Life

is not happy. I hate my poor life. (My comment: Buy my book,

我選擇快樂, and then start to choose to be happy)

Life is meaningful and enriching if you are rich. Try to get a good

job with high pay and also get good educational qualification.

(My comment: Try? "Try" means doing nothing! Do

something!)

My life us like a dog. I am working like a dog everyday. I don't want

to become a dog. (My comment: Great Insight!!! You are not

like a dog, you are a dog if you do not know what you want

to be!)

L=Love, I=Illusion, F=Frustrated, E=Everlasting (My comment:

Save your time in making this funny thing to do something

else that you will not frustrate yourself!)

L=Loss, I=In, F=Failure, E=Eventually (My comment: You are

absolutely right! You are going to Loss In Failure Eventually

if you don't think and do something!)

My final comment: Stay away from this message board. It will

eventually kills anyone who keep on reading it!!!

V. My Personal Development Tips: Top 5 "Samll" Lessons

I Learned from the Tsunami in South Asia

Recently I received a lots of emails about the senders' learnings

from the tsunami.

Interestingly (the tsunami is not interesting!), most of the learnings

are about something like caring more for your family and friends,

valuing your relationship with others, awakening from being cruel

to our earth, etc.

These are great lessons. I like to share with you my "small" lessons l

earned from the tsunami.

1. There was Always Some Signs. One man in Thailand felt that

something was going wrong when he discovered the sea level was

abnormally low just before the tsunami. He lived there for years and

he never saw something like this. We are just too busy not to be

aware of the warning signs. But the signs are there.

2. If There is a Danger, It is OK to Run Away!!! He ran as far away

from the seashore as possible. He saved his life. From the TV

boardcast, I find many people were still playing or watching when

the first wave came. Some of them disappeared after the second wave.

3. Warn Others of the Potential Dangers. The same man above

also warn other people nearby when he was running for life. He

saved hundreds of lives.

4. Protect Yourself First. Someone did not believed in his warning.

He tried to explain but he didn't waste his time further as he want to

save his own life.

5. If You can't Escape, Face the Danger! I saw this from the TV

News. There were several boats near the seashore when the

tsunami came. Some of those boats turned around away from

the wave to escape. But it was already too late. They are deadly

damaged. There were 2 other boats turned toward the wave.

They went up and down but they were still under control. Finally,

they made it.
