Re: [Ewings Sarcoma] I want to thank all of you...From our Nikki   Message List

Unfortunately we are all part of a club we had no interest in joining.
Nikki will be in my family's prayers. My son Joseph was diagnosed a
little over a year ago when he was 18 months old. He had ewing's
localized in his fibula. He made it through the surgery and 14 rounds
of chemo like a trooper. We finished up the chemo in December. He had
his first set of post treatment scans in January and all was clear. Now
we just have to hold our breath that the cancer stays away.

This is a stubborn cancer but it can definitely be beat. They have
made some great strides lately with the effectiveness of the treatments.
My biggest advice would be to learn everything you can about ewing's
and the treatments and just try to get through everything day by day.
If you have people around you who are looking to help, take as much help
as you can get. Unfortunately this process is a marathon not a sprint.

I posted a few days ago as a desperate parent looking for information.
Wow you guys are so great for reaching out to someone you never met.
What I am realizing is that there are life occurances that link all of
us and the human spirit is an amazing thing. Our family and friends
have been amazing through our dark times and all of you that have
contacted us have touched a part in us that we didn't know was there.
Nikki had her bone scan and it came up clear, she starts her chemo
tommorrow. I want to thank everyone that has contacted us, we now know
that we are not alone in this fight. I have posted in files an essay
that Nikki's sister wrote for an assignment for school, I'm sorry if
it upsets anyone, but I read it everyday before I start my day, I get
the tears out of the way and I know as a father of four girls, why I
must stay strong through out our fight.

Hi Jamie and Karen, That is fantastic news that this is localized and not in the bone. Thank God for that. She will feel bad but this will get better. The kids...
