Hi. I had four stem cell transplants. My transplant experience is a
lot different from other people's experience. I harvested my own
stem cells at the beginning of my treatment. I then had the four
procedures throughout my chemo treatment. I was not put in isolation
after my stem cell transplant. I was allowed to go home the same day
of my treatment. The stem cells have a funny odor to them so for a
few days after the procedure you will have that odor linger on you.
One thing you will want to do is chew some type of strong gum when
they infuse the stem cells into you. My nurse recommended me to get
Big Red gum. The reason why you chew the gum because when they
infuse the stem cells into you it has a funny taste and the gum will
help take that taste away. I hope I am able to help you in some
way. :)
