The Essex County Cancer Coalition (ECCC) is supported by a health services grant from the NJDHSS Office of Cancer Control Programs (OCCP). The current Essex County Cancer Coalition Coordinator is Mr. Christopher Tuohy and the co-coordinator is Dr. Daniel M. Rosenblum, at telephone (973) 972-4623, both of whom report to Professor Stanley H. Weiss, MD, FACP, FACE at the UMDNJ- New Jersey Medical School, the Director of the ECCC.

Dr. Weiss and Diana R. DeCosimo, MD are the Principal and co-Principal Investigators of the ECCC project.

The ECCC runs meetings in conjunction with the Essex County CEED Coalition, which was formed as a cooperative venture from the St. Michael's Medical Center CEED Project [formerly based at East Orange General Hospital] and the U.M.D.N.J. "S.A.V.E. Women and Men" CEED Project. These are coordinated, respectively, by Ms. Catherine Marcial and Ms. Aretha Hill-Forte. The Essex County CEED Coalition was formed in order to encourage local partnerships to promote cancer screening services, and to provide a meeting place for those involved in this endeavor.

At the September 9, 2004 meeting it was agreed to hold future meetings of the Essex County CEED Coalition in conjunction with the new Essex Cancer Coalition, a county-wide coalition mandated & supported by the NJDHSS. These occur quarterly.

We actively maintain a community calendar of cancer-related events on that website. Information can be downloaded or printed in either of 2 formats. We warmly welcome submission of information about relevant events & other timely news, to an ECCC coordinator (Mr. Tuohy,Dr. Rosenblum) or the Director (Dr. Weiss) for our consideration for possible posting to all members.
