Sandi,

Did you contact Celeita Kramer at Second Wind?  She’s in WV but she has fosters all over the country.   Her email is horseygirl55@....  She goes to great lengths to find horses new homes and save them from an auction.  I’m sure she can help.

For everyone else – visit her website www.secondwind.com and check out some of the fantastic horses she has for adoption.  I wish I had room and resources to take several.  I adopted my TB mare from her in 2000 – she was a Native Dancer granddaughter who raced and was a brood mare and she was a great horse.  I finally had to put her down last year at 26 because of an advanced case of melanoma (I probably let it go much further than I should have) and I’d adopt from her again any day.  You can follow the comeback of a TWH she is bringing back from starvation – he’s a gorgeous horse and you can see the appreciation in his face.

Good luck!

Allison

Hi All,
I sent the below e-mail several months ago asking for any assistance you might have to offer. I have since contacted well over 100 rescues to no avail. I fear Cisco's time is running out. If anyone out there has a suitable place and can offer this horse a home, I urge you to contact me ASAP. Thank you,
Sandi

Hello

My neighbors have a 13 yr old leopard Appaloosa gelding. A couple of years ago he had an injury during a thunderstorm and ruptured his spleen. He nearly died through a bleed out, but after 2 blood transfusions he began to heal. He has come back to being mostly normal, but the bleed out left him with retinal degeneration and early cataracts. Additionally he is no longer able to be ridden due to discomfort when weight is on his back. Cisco seems very healthy and full of life, however, the owners of this little guy have decided that they cannot provide a safe environment for a blind horse. He still has sight, but presently it is distorted and the prognosis is total blindness.

They have allowed me to try and find a safe and forever home for him, but if one is not found they are considering euthanasia. I feel this is not right, he is a fun little horse, loves people, will lick you to death. He's playful with other horses. He will try and dominate but backs off pretty quickly if there's a leader in the group. He is also a bit skittish with veterinarians and farriers, but he's kind and sweet

Can you offer any assistance for this horse?

Thank you for your consideration,

Sandi Forester

Hi Jeanne! -

Let us know how it goes!  I don't know about Oklahoma, but we always find that tack and horse stuff goes really well "secondhand" where we have been (Utah and Nevada).

Take care,
Jennifer
