some seizures are not detected by others
and just like craigs email says about helping a child
I was just like him when I was a child
so I would do what your doctor is telling you to do
being on a seizure med is not a label or somthing
please help your child
I wish I was helped when I was younger please dont pass this
help by when your child is older if you have not helped
then you will be unhappy
I was taken to psychiatrist due to crying in my sleep age three
they thought I was having nite mares when in fact it was
petite mals repeatedly thru the nite not that your child might
be having these but your doctor is right i think

Subject: [Epilepsy Support and Education] Advice Needed

Hi Everyone,
My daughter has been experiencing myoclonic jerks when she is sleep deprived. We
discovered this after picking her up from a sleepover. She is 14. A CAT scan and
blood work came back fine. An eeg came back abnormal. The neurologist wants to
put her on Keppra XR. She has not had a seizure yet. Is it absolutely necessary
for her to be on medication? I would greatly appreciate advice. My daughter has
always been a healthy child. We do not have a family history of epilepsy, so
this is all very new and scary to us.
