Thanks for the site, it may take me forever to dig through all this
info but I greatly appreciate it.
I'm Sarah we live in Houston. My 15 yo dd had a grand mal in June,
other possible causes were ruled out in the emergency room so they
told us it was probably epilepsy. We were shocked and sure they
were wrong...that this was a one time freak thing. Within a few
days we had an EEG and we had results ... she had one tendancy
towards reacting to light...so the tech told us about photosensitive
epilepsy immediately following the test. We were rushed into a
neuro's office and she labeled her with Juvenile Myoclonic. After
only one seizure and four days... we thought there was no way we
were going to medicate immediately. This all seemed so ridiculous
and quick.
Well now that some time has gone by we've seen two other minor
episodes and we need to readdress the question of what to do. We
are still not excited about the medication option...and would like
to pursue other options first. I'm so excited about finding this
list!! I've been looking/asking about alternatives EVERYWHERE and
found nothing. I just knew there had to be something else out
there. I'm thrilled to be here and can't wait to read more about
what this list is all about...and dig throught the resources you've
archived...
THANKS!!!!
Sarah
