Dear Group, During stressful times it is great to acknowledge the small delights of the living, breathing world around us. My friend who lost a favorite dog recently to old age was telling me two great moments. Once, when her grandson was licking a big icecream cone the dog sat down next to the four year old. Suddenly she realized that the dog would lick one side of the icecream cone and then patiently wait while the boy licked the other side. This continued for a long time. The other memory was this big dog playing tug of war with a towel with her tiny other dog. The big dog could have literally ripped the little dog apart, and certainly could have won at tug of war with one pull. However, she would pull just enough of the towel so that the little dog could pull back and feel engaged in play, not overwhelmed. They both played for a long time!
What beautiful memories and what a tripute to the inherent goodness of nature-may we all be blessed with that goodness! All my best, Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein
