Dear Group, I haven't heard from ANY of you in a long time. I had to share a beautiful moment that happened yesterday. We attended a friend's birthday party. At that party, my friend's mother-in-law, a beautiful somewhat frail older woman who recently lost her husband and is suffering from some senility, was there with other family members. At the same table was sitting a very large, tall women who is her caretaker during the week. This other woman is from Georgia (somewhere in Russia). She has a strong accent and she exudes a very old world warmth that is refreshing and reminds me of people I met on my visits to Greece years ago.
The dancing began and of course couples as well as children danced. Suddenly I looked onto the dance floor and saw this kind big lady gently taking her companion on to the dance floor and dancing. They were the most moving couple! There was complete devotion and determination and a will to have fun coming from both of them. They did a mean foxtrot!
I turned away with tears in my eyes, suddenly moved beyond what I could have imagined. Yes, this was a small ENCHANTED MOMENT.
Please respond-All my best, Dr. Barbara Holstein
