I was an EMT from 1986 to 1993. I ran with a volunteer rescue
squad (first female...that was alittle difficult)for 6 years. My
husband had 12 years when he resigned. We both resigned because we
had our first child.

I also worked as a 911 dispatcher from 1988 to 2001. I was
working when we went from the 7 digit emergency number to the "State
of the Art" 911 system in 1993.

I've had some pretty bad calls that still haunt me. Either I can
play the scene over in my mind from a Squad call...or hear the people
or kids screaming while on the phone at work.

I also had to help my husband through a crisis when he was Chief
of the Squad. He mainly had problems because he was Chief and in
charge of the scene and such a burden was placed upon his shoulders
to try to make everything turn out ok. Which it didn't. The child
didn't make it. Ped/MVA...entrapment under the vehicle.

I'm glad to be with a group of people who've had simliar
experiences and problems with calls, and I've taken thousands of them
over the years. If I can help, I'm more than willing.

I live in Southern NJ...38...two kids...and now an at home Mom.
Not involved in the EMS field any longer...though I teach first aid
to 4-H clubs. I will admit...I'm still a Trauma Junkie. I could
jump right back into it...maybe when the kids are grown.
