Hello,
I am a new member.
I work extensively with trauma, PTSD and have had some trauma
myself. I also work with an organisation that receives many
referrals from the police.
I have been trained by a group that came up with one of the newer
and most effective methods known for resolving PTSD (TIR). The
method is still relatively unknown as it has never really been
marketed. I am generally interested in networking in the
trauma/PTSD world to gain experience, to always keep up with the
latest developments and help out where I can.
I am also involved in organising talks and seminars on Trauma in
London, UK. I do not know where any of you are based, but in case
you are (or know someone else) interested in seminars on such
innovations, I paste the details below. The article below also
contains some information about how one can resolve PTSD
cognitively.
Best regards,
Henry Whitfield
Critical issues in understanding and resolving Trauma - by Stephen
Bisbey Bsc Psych. , CTS
This talk is on a cognitive model of trauma, shown to consistently
resolve Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
This cognitive model of trauma will be presented by its originator
Mr. Stephen Bisbey and co-author of "Brief Therapy for Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder: Traumatic Incident Reduction and related
techniques." *
This talk provides understanding of principles underlying the
technique of Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) - a structured
imagery exposure method for enabling a client to fully assimilate
and accommodate their past traumatic experience. Controlled
comparitive studies with other methods for resolving PTSD have
demonstrated TIR to be consistently effective at resolving PTSD and
other effects of traumatic stress. It accomplishes this by
gradiently enabling a person to inspect and discharge the emotional
and cognitive content of the trauma. The resolution of the
condition typically ends with a cognitive shift as the client
regains awareness of the thinking that underlies the emotions of the
Trauma. Follow up studies have also shown relapse to be very
uncommon.
