Through experience I've learned you will get denied by SS about 3 times
and then you need to have a lawyer....get one from the phone book that
specializes in getting SS Disability for people, not a lawyer who takes
a variety of cases. Everyone I know who got their SS Disability went
through a SSD lawyer. They don't really charge that much and don't get
paid unless you win. It is worth it. The 3 denials take about 3
years....that's the hard part. Once you get it, you will get a form
every year for several years asking you the same old questions about
your disability. Be careful with that. Someone told me that if you
change your original answers about what you are able to and not able to
do with your disability, SS will yank you back in, take your SSD from
you and you have to go through the whole ugly process again to regain
your benefits. My son just copied word for word his answers every year
and there were no problems.
