Hi,

Having been going through EMDR for a year now I can tell you a bit more.

EMDR is short for Eye Movement Desensitization and Re-processing. It is
based on the fact that rapid eye movement, and sometimes tapping helps to
reset the brain in processing memories and the associated emotions. Here is
a link:

http://www.emdr.com/

For those that do not know I am a paramedic and have been since 1990 and an
EMT since 1983. I was not correctly diagnosed and that delayed treatment for
many years. I also had a very bad case (7 year old cardiac arrest) that
closed a local ER and I was ordered out of service by the county director.
The CISD team was going to the hospital and my squad chief refused to stay
and ordered me out of the ER and back into service so our squad stats did
not take a hit. I then went on to have 3 more calls in that 12 hour shift
where no patients survived.

Going through EMDR I found out that in addition to the "day from hell" where
5 of 5 patients did not survive I discovered I had been very severely abused
as a child, this was emotionally, physical and even sexually by several
people.

I wish all good luck in their battles, I know that even reading here helps
me.

Jay
