Last week, after my CT scan, I picked up my report from my medical
records. I had phoned my doctor and already scheduled an appt but they
couldnt see me for a week and in the mean time, I knew my records would
have the report.
I called the doctor after I read it and made an appt with my
pulmonologist. Both doctors, my primary and my pulmonologist had not
been convinced that I was horribly fatigued until they read the
report. I see my pulmonologist next week.
I have Pulmonary Fibrosis. http://www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/ipf.htm
Average life expectancy following diagnosis is five years, and the
disease is always fatal.
In my case, it was not properly diagnosed immediately when most of my
severe symptoms started.
I have been incredibly depressed knowing that I will not be around to
watch my daughter and son get married, go to college, see my
grandchildren, and do things I had planned on watching.
My other concern is getting the doctor to do a biopsy in the next month
or two just to make sure I dont also have cancer and the fibrosis is a
secondary effect from cancer which in 9/11 responder's situation has
happened.
I will post more later on next week after I deal with my infected molar.
