Hi Joe,
Welcome to the group. This is a safe, non judgemental place to come
and let loose about any PTSD issues or service related issues you
have. We are NON JUDGEMENTAL because we have been there or have
seen/heard others who have been there.
I am a WTC Survivor Rescue Worker from 9/11. There are a few others
here who worked the Trade Center and will understand the Triggers,
flashbacks and nightmares.
I was Volunteer EMT with (www.fvac.org) Flatlands volunteer
ambulance squad. Went in after the second collapse had just hit the
ground and by the time i got home that night at 10pm my kids had
been told I had probably died.
I went back on 9/13 and 14th. My partner, my capt, my mentor, who
was my partner on 9/13 died last year of a Heart Attack.
What you will hear here is alternatives to how some of us deal with
our situations, panic attacks, triggers and methods to keep life
manageable.
The transcripts have brought back my anxiety, my agoraphobia and my
stress level to new heights. The London bombings started it.
I keep telling myself that the release of transcripts is good
because people will learn from what they hear and know and they will
improve communications as well.
So take off hat, your boots, grab something to drink, sit by the web
boobtube, and take a load off!
