Dear Listmates,

Reference: PTSD therapy training

Christmas greetings!

TIR UK News: With in the next seven weeks we will have more than 70
people through our trainings in no less than four different cities in
the UK.

These are Londonderry (Northern Ireland), Wakefield (West Yorkshire),
York (North Yorkshire) and two locations in London.

Below are details of our upcoming level-1 trainings in January for which
there is only room for two more.

Feel free to pass on the information to anyone who might be interested.

Best wishes,

Henry

What UK Mental health professionals are saying:

“Since I did the session on the training day I can no longer feel the
pain previously contained in that memory. It really has gone
permanently.
I think there is a lot of new age nonsense out there but TIR really does
deliver. Thank you for enlightening us.”

Jeanette Lockethomson – Coordinator Victim Support Sutton

“I continue to be amazed by the power and simplicity of TIR. Did a
session with a client last week... all the usual symptoms, nightmares,
avoidance, couldn't talk/think about the incident without crying. This
week, feeling much better, can talk about what happened without getting
upset, no nightmares!! I wish I'd known about TIR years ago.”
Pauline Brumwell – Counselling Manager MAHPP, UKRC Registered. Board
member of the United Kingdom Association for Humanistic Psychology
Practitioners (an accreditation body under the UKCP)

Basic Traumatic Incident Reduction (One day introductory workshop)

Friday 14th January 2005
Fee: £95 (or £70 when booked simultaneously with second module (29-30
January 2005)
Venue: Belsize Park, London
Training day includes the following and more :

• A contextualization of Trauma and TIR
• How to perceive if the client is engaged in processing unassimilated
material
• Optimising the client's ability to make progress
• Each attendee will both give and receive real TIR sessions after
extensive supervised practice of a range of skills
• Recognizing cognitive shifts and other optimum points for ending the
session

A Brief Description of TIR :
Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) is a non-evaluative, client-led
desensitization procedure that enables the client to undo repression and
increase awareness of past events that still effect his present. TIR
also responds to how traumatic experiences 'network' and identifies
other less obviously related incidents that can be complicit in the
maintenance of symptoms.
The 'Basic TIR workshop' is the first module of Level 1 TIR training.
TIR is best known for its effectiveness at permanently reducing the
symptoms of PTSD and other trauma related conditions.
TIR workshop module II Thematic TIR and Unblocking, 2 days (TIRW)

29-30th (Sat-Sun) January 2005
Fee: £220
Venue: Belsize Park, London

This workshop completes the first level of TIR training. It includes the
second form of TIR - Thematic TIR. This is a method for reaching
traumatic incidents that the client is unaware he has. This workshop
also contains training in the Unblocking procedure, a method for
reducing stress in a general area of a client's life such as 'Your job',
'Your marriage'. It is also useful for preparing a client for more
intense exposure work. TIR is a client-led approach and therefore the
client decides what she is ready to confront. A training in TIR
grounding procedures is also contained in this workshop along with 8
exercises for training practitioners in controlling and optimising the
chemistry of the session for best results.

This program is co-sponsored by Applied Metapsychology International
(AMI) and TIR UK. AMI is approved by the American Psychological
Association (APA) to offer continuing education for psychologists. AMI
maintains responsibility for the program."

The Traumatic Incident Reduction Association is a division of AMI.

Kingdom
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------

TIR UK is the UK's foremost training organisation for Traumatic Incident
Reduction (TIR) counselling training, running regular workshops and
supervision groups for all levels of TIR training. TIR UK also provides
counselling organisations with in-house training, consulting and
supervision for setting up TIR counselling projects. Such counselling
projects are usually PTSD/Trauma counselling projects.
What is Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR)?
Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), in its basic form, is a repetitive
imaginal exposure method for enabling a client to assimilate and
accommodate their past traumatic experiences. The broader subject of TIR
can be described as a theoretically consistent collection of counselling
tools, designed to respond to many different needs and situations.
Controlled comparative studies with other methods for resolving PTSD
have demonstrated TIR to be consistently effective at resolving PTSD and
other effects of traumatic stress.
