training workshops this June.

All the best,
Henry Whitfield
Introductory Traumatic Incident Reduction workshop (A one day course –
‘Basic TIR’)
Saturday, 5th June or Friday 25th June 2004
Training day includes the following and more :
· A contextualization of Trauma and TIR
· How to perceive if the client is engaged in processing
unassimilated material
· Optimising the client’s ability to make progress
· Each attendee will both give and receive real TIR sessions
after supervised practice of a range of skills
· Recognising cognitive shifts and other optimum points for
ending the session.
A Brief Description of TIR :
Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) is a non-evaluative, client-led
desensitization procedure that enables the client to undo repression and
increase awareness of past events that still effect his present. TIR
also responds to how traumatic experiences ‘network’ and identifies
other less obviously related incidents that can be complicit in the
maintenance of symptoms.
The ‘Basic TIR workshop’ is the first module of Level 1 TIR training.
Level 1 TIR training can be completed 26-27th June. TIR is best known
for its effectiveness at permanently reducing the symptoms of PTSD and
other trauma related conditions.

“I have completed TIR Level 1 and Level 2, attending the workshops
organised and co-ordinated by Henry Whitfield in London.
Not only did I find them very interesting and well conducted, but also
the quality of my counselling for young victims of crime has greatly
improved as a result of using the TIR techniques. “

“…although I knew he [Dr. Robert Moore] was moving towards TIR from
REBT, I didn’t realise he had given up the Institute for REBT in
Florida. I don’t think it was crystal clear in his article why he gave
up REBT in favour of TIR but as I say I have a lot of time for Bob Moore
as a practitioner and a thinker, and I think that if he is pointing to
something for its effectiveness, I would certainly pick up my ears and
listen” [excerpt from ‘Beyond Trauma: Conversations on Traumatic
Incident reduction’]

“Since I did the session on the training day I can no longer feel the
pain previously contained in that memory. It really has gone
permanently.
I think there is a lot of new age nonsense out there but TIR really does
deliver. Thank you for enlightening us.”

“I recently attended a Basic TIR workshop led by Henry Whitfield in
York.
I've been quite sceptical about some approaches to trauma work, but I
must say that I am very impressed by what I have learned of TIR so far.
It's practical, easy to understand and immediately applicable to work
with clients.
Henry is an excellent teacher, so the day was great fun too! I'd been
expecting quite a gruelling day, working with difficult and painful
material, so it was a great bonus to find that I came away feeling
energised and excited.
I'm really looking forward to learning more.”
