i agree, i would definatly pen a letter to his supervisor, i would
send it not only to his direct supervisor, but also to the board to
directors, and i would CC him a copy. and just to make your point
more clear i would include information about the americans with
disabilities act, and information reguarding PTSD. Even if your
frustration has you at a point you no longer wish to work for this
organization, it still must be brought to thier attention. You may
want to point out that when your in a bad place, it often helps to
speak to someone who was in that place themself rather then a person
with a perfect life, who has no concept of what you could be going
thru. remember the united way is not the only game in town if you
want to help people you can look into the rape crisis center & thier
hot line, substance abuse hotlines, the center for missing and
exploited children, AIDS organizations, foodbanks & pantries, meals
on wheels, hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, american red
cross, american cancer society, community centers, thrift stores and
the list goes on - i am sure any one of these would be not just
happy, but proud to call you one of thier own.
on a personal note, please don't anyone be offended by this, we all
have opinions and this one is mine...I don't like the united way, for
every 1 good story I hear about them, I have heard a bad one. I do
not think 50/50 is a good track record for an organization this large
who tries to bill themselves as a helping hand. I think thier
selection criteria, not only of people to employ but of organizations
to support has things to be desired. I think as a whole their
company is prejudicial and bias in thier roots, and personally i
refuse to support them and thier fundraisers, out of principal. If
someone approaches me and asks if i will donate $1 to united way to
support organization X i decline and tell them i will send a check
for $1 to my local chapter of organization X directly. there is no
reason united way needs to put it's hand into my doantion to the
group of my choice.
