Okay, I just need to vent. I thought it would be nice to volunteer
one afternoon a week with United Way answering phones. So I
contacted them via e-mail about it. At first it sounded perfect,
then I got an e-mail about me coming for a "get to know you"
session. He said that they didn't have parking nor bus service but
the train station was right across the street and I could take the
train down. (About 20 miles) Well, if you read my introductory post
you know that me and trains don't mix. So I politely explained that
I had been involved in a train collision and was suffering from PTSD
as a result and I couldn't ride in a train, but that if there was a
paid parking lot anywhere nearby I wouldn't mind paying since it was
only one afternoon a week. I got an e-mail back that the position
was highly stressful and he didn't think anyone with PTSD should
volunteer. You have got to be kidding me! The thing is that I don't
have the energy or inclination to try and educate this fool. It's
makes me mad! Suddenly I'm too crazy to work for FREE. When is the
general public going to be educated about this condition?
