New York, NY (February 2, 2003)... As you have probably heard, Philip Morris changed it's name to Altria. Apparently Philip Morris employees who work in non-tobacco businesses (such as its Kraft food subsidiary) were ashamed to tell people where they worked.
Philip Morris decided that changing its name would de-emphasize tobacco and give its non-tobacco employees some secret cover.
A group of teens from Revolution, a youth organization dedicated to fighting Big Tobacco, created an ad about Philip Morris' name change. The ad shows two piles of manure. One pile is named Philip Morris. The other pile is named Altria. The caption says, "Same sh*t. Different pile."
