Abbe, I went through a similar situation in a union
environment where my union rep sided against me. The
only (legal) course of action I can think of is to
find and speak to a Labor lawyer. I don't know if
they have the same in the States as up in Canada, but
find out if you are able to collect disability through
the government, up here there temporary and permanent
disability available from the employment
ministry/department and there is also federal
disability. find out if this is available and if it
is ask about a temporary status, you want to be able
to return to the work force, and you want to be able
to still hold onto large assets (such as RSPs, funds,
real estate (your home) -- up here federal disability
one's allowed assets and provincial one's not allowed
any (makes no sense to me or my friends & family, but
that's the government). Good luck!
oh, find a counselor or Psychiatrist who can help you
to overcome your depression from last weeks situation
who will either charge you litte or Nothing (or works
on a sliding scale). Keep your spirits up and let us
know how you're making out
