Educate everyone you know about bullying and mobbing   Message List

Bullying and mobbing is such an unknown, silent epidemic we have to educate
others about it.
Look up some good info on bullying on the net. Copy of the information on what
it does to the organization....stagnates growth, sick time, productivity, etc.
etc. and give it to your boss, and their boss. Change is hard. Try and plant as
many seeds in peoples minds as you can. And hopefully when they are ready for
change the seed will grow...

Just left a job with one of the worst bully bosses I have ever
encountered. Started a new job where I found several bullies and
also strong evidence that they are well versed in bullying.

My gut belief is that the department manager wants to change this
environment, of course they can't fire everyone so it is a matter of
trying to slowly work on their behavior and bring in new people with
more team spirit values. There is where the mobbing comes in, these
folks have worked here from 10 to 30 years, some have never worked
anywhere else. I believe they think the bullying in normal and are
resistant to change. Some just enjoy being able to get there own way.
They are determined not to let any new people in because the manager
always picks people that are less prone to bullying and the others
can't have that. So i am the latest target.

I have been thinking about educating my manager about bullying and
mobbing, I'm not sure she recognizes all that is going on in her
department. Don't know if this is a good idea or not.

Any suggestions, insights, experiences with doing same would be
greatly appreciated.

thanks,
