I looked up Michigans laws and (no surprise) there were none against
any form of this work trauma. I have to say my personal case was
not as extreme as others, but I still felt heartbroken (b/c i loved
working at this place) and sad. I think though I feel better off
not working there. It feels weird that it has happened to me- and
from reading your stories- to you guys as well; but at first (prior
to this expierence) I thought that this kind of abuse was
fictional. I think that many people who havent expierenced this
believe this as well.
I did some more research on Workplace Trauma (look it up at
webmd.com- very informative). It said that in most cases of this
abuse, It deals (primarily) with women- as the antagonizers and the
victims. It also happens to people who are well capable of the job-
and who are also very charismatic. One possible reason for this
abuse is that the antagionizer sees you as a threat to his/her
posistion. I called some of my old co-workers to inform them of
(pretty much) the only thing they can do against this abuse- to
stick together and to stick up for each other.
I also wrote an email to Michigan's Attorney General (i'm not quite
sure who else to write) about the whole ordeal. In all seriousness-
this kind of abuse should be watched upon by management, and if it's
the management who's commiting these acts- then their bosses. I
think it should be the managements responsibility to provide a safe
envrionment for everyone to work on.
I dont know. I do know though that laws should be made and enforced
about this kind of abuse.
