POSITION SUMMARY:
The ER Nurse Manager maintains 24/7 accountability for the
operations and policies of the Emergency Room and Walk-in
departments. The ER manager facilitates safe and effective patient
care through means such as staff development, care coordination,
supervision of staff, and facilitation of the quality improvement
process. The ER Manager works at a local and regional level to
maintian and improve the hospital's trauma program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS or RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes 24/7 acccountability for the policies and operations of the
departments.
Assures appropriate staffing and coverage of shifts.
Employs concepts of continuous performance improvement to identify
processes needing improvement and takes action.
Monitors data, presents to staff and engages staff in action
planning, reviews literature to identify best practices in customer
service, implements action plans.
Works with ER medical director and uses literature reviews,
networking, etc to identify clinical best practices that can be
implemented or improved.
Works with medical director to develop and maintain triage care
protocols.
Works with ER medical director, regional EMS, and other regional
systems to maintain and improve Trauma Level and trauma systems.
Develops capital and operating budgets. Reviews monthly financial
statements, identifies and explains variances, and identifies areas
to improve and actions to take to improve as needed.
Performs day-to-day operations including but not limited to:
interviewing, hiring, coaching, discipline, financial management,
quality monitoring, and assisting staff as needed.

Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Experience: Minimum of three years ED nursing experience required
Experience: Previous Supervisory or Management experience preferred
Experience: Experience with Trauma Coordination preferred
Licenses: Current license as an RN in the State of Wisconsin
Certifications: BSN preferred
Certifications: PALS and ATLS to be obtained within 1 year of hire
Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS
