I just wanted to write to thank everyone for the input and the
support. The hospital had a supervisior meeting today to discuss the
scheduling needs. Unfortunetly the DON of the hospital would not
listen to my conserns and I had to leave without notice. I am not
about to place my licenses on the line for anything. To be all, the
DON threatened me stating that if someone call for a reference that
she would be forced to say that I quit without notice. I almost
laughed in her face. One, in the state of Virginia you cannot give
out any information except what the person made either salary or
hourly, and you can only say, "I would not hesitate to hire this
person." They cannot say anything damaging towards a former
employee. Second, I gave good reason for not willing to work in such
unsafe conditions. I even told her that I was willing to work if
they would get another nurse in the hospital, but if I came in and
there wasn't another nurse I would not accept the report and refuse
to work. She then threatened me with patient abandonment. I almost
laughed a second time. In virginia as long as you let them know that
you don't accept the report and refuse to work they cannot get you
for abandonment. I will not give out the name of this hospital
because I loved working there, not because of the hospital itself but
because of those that I worked with. If anyone knows of any good
places to work in VA please let me know.
