I think the ENA course would be great! Our department currently has a 6 week
orientation--with the ability to extend it a few more weeks if the person feels
they need it (they have an post-orientation interview with the ED educator). I
personally think new grads need longer than that. AFter our nurses finish
orientation, they then get "checked off" on traumas. They do not take traumas
until after they are "checked off". This involves them working traumas in
various positions with educators.
We are currently redesigning our orientation process a little--I don't know
the details of that.

Good evening from the Commonwealth of Kentucky!
I am the ED Educator for a 30 bed ED, Fast Track, and Chest Pain Center. We are
looking at our orientation for new employees. Does any one have any good ideas
on orientation? Length of orientation? If you do, please let me know. Please
email me here or my work email is padams3@...
Thanks in advance!
Have a great rest of the day!!
