The Public's Health and the Law in the 21st Century:
4th Annual Partnership Conference
June 13-15, 2005
Convened Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Public Health Law
Program and the American Society for Law, Medicine and Ethics, this
annual conference is for: Elected officials who make public health laws;
Public health practitioners and legal counsel; Physicians and nurses in
public health and clinical practice; Emergency management and law
enforcement officials; Judges and attorneys active in public health and
health care; Educators and researchers in public health law, and all who
are active in, and interested in, law as a tool for improved public
health.
The conference features three keynote addresses by prominent leaders in
domestic and global public health law and policy including Risa
Lavizzo-Mourey, MD, MBA, President and CEO, Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation, Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and David Bryne, Esq.,
Special Envoy for the International Health Regulations, World Health
Organization, and former European Commissioner for Health and Public
Safety. Additionally, the conference will highlight a special plenary
session on today's relevance of the 1905 U.S. Supreme Court Jacobson v.
Massachusetts ruling that addressed the balance between individual
health and community well being, and 25 concurrent sessions on current
and rapidly evolving issues important to every public health
practitioner, policy maker, and attorney.
CME, CLE and other CEU credits will be available.
Nursing
American Public Health Association Public Health Nursing Section is
accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on accreditation. By attending
and evaluating approved sessions, APHA will issues a certificate of
attendance with indication of the total contact hours earned.
Health Education
The American Public Health Association is accredited by the National
Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. to sponsor
continuing education for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES).
This program is a designated event for the CHES (Certified Health
Education Specialists) to receive up to 12 Category I CE contact hours
(CECH). By attending and evaluating approved sessions, APHA will issues
a certificate of attendance with indication of the total CECH earned.
