In our area we have a Critical Incident Stress Debriefing team made up of all
types of professionals - medics, RN's, MD's, lab personnel, firefighters, social
workers, pastors, and counselors. The EMS and Fire Departments utilize them more
than the ED's do. They are a non-involved party. Everyone involved in the
incident attend with pagers, cell phones etc. turned off, and we have even had
bystanders attend these sessions. It works very well to vent concerns and hear
someone else's perception of the incident. I have personal experience with this
team and found it a very positive experience. P.L. RN, EMT-P
