Re: [emergency-nurse.org] ENP versus PALS   Message List

I teach both so I will give you my thoughts.

PALS focuses on acute resuscitation and prevention of arrest secondary to shock
and/or respiratory failure. You practice resuscitation skills, airway
management and vascular access techniques.

ENPC addresses this and more. It covers trauma, common medical emergencies
(toxicology, infectious, respiratory, vascular, cardiac and more). It also
discusses parental teaching, prevention and assessment skills.

I feel the courses are complementary but if I had to pick one for an ED nurse it
would be ENPC.

Subject: [emergency-nurse.org] ENP versus PALS

Hi, there I am needing to take a pediatric course and was wondering
if anyone could tell me what the major difference is in PALS vs. ENP
and what would give the most information for a nurse who is going
into the ED?

Thankyou
