Hi,
Are there any members that live in Alaska? I'm interested in traveling to
Alaska next spring to work for 3 or 4 months or maybe more. I can leave my
current position for up to 6 months without losing my seniority.
I went to Hawaii last winter to take care of my dad and worked in a rural
hospital called Kahuku and had the best expiences. I'd signed up with some
agencies, but found that working directly with the hospital was best for me.
I saw a lot of tropical infections, and quite a few cases of debilitating
gout. It was interesting to work with people of different cultures, both
the staff and patients. They were all very kind and tolerant me; and they
taught me a lot. Kahuku is on the north shore and bills itself as the best
rural hospital in Hawaii.
