This group is devoted to the use of effective microorganisms (aka EM, BEM, etc.) and related products (such as activated EM, EM-X, and EM ceramics) in human and animal health, and related topics. EM, aka effective microorganisms and effectiv microbes, are a cluster of beneficial organisms - developed by Dr. Teruo Higa, a horticultural professor at U of Ryukus, Japan - which ferment organic matter in an antioxidative way. There are several EM fermented antioxidant nutritional supplements on the market.
This list is moderated by Vinny Pinto, a researcher in the fields of EM and nutritional antioxidants.
Some relevant terms are EM-X, AEM, EMX, activated EM, EM extension, EM extended. Dr. Higa says that the heart of EM is the phototrophic organisms. These beneficial microorganisms are also used to make EM ceramics, bokashi, EM-X ceramics, EM salt, EM Salt, Antiox brews, fermented antioxidant brews and many more products. Some other EM products are fermented antioxidant supplements such as Vita Biosa, Lanox, EM-X, Fervita and Sootheox. EM products are distributed under many names by many companies; some of the names are effective microorganisms , efficient microbes (EM), Beneficial Microorganisms (BM), Compound microorganisms (CM) and Vita Biosa. Dr. Higa attributes the antioxidative power of the EM to something he calls gravity waves or wave resonance.
