RE: [SPAM] [ekg_club] Man Dies at Home After Paramedics Diagnose Acid Reflux

Um, despite what the article states, I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt to the EMTs and medics.  Let the investigation proceed and conclude before passing judgement.  None of us were there and therefor no one can attest to what degree (if at all) these medics screwed up.  The public isn't going to give us the benefit of the doubt, so we should at least pass along such a courtesy to each other.

It’s stuff like this that makes us look bad, like a bunch of bumbling keystone cops.

When I’m precepting, I’m always having to hammer into the students/interns that they are not there to diagnose and that if it’s an evolving MI there may be no changes on the ECG and RSR in Lead II does not mean it’s a “clear ECG”.

I’d like to know what their MedCom/QA does about this.

"Lolitha Givens said the firefighters asked her son what was wrong, and the emergency medical technicians who arrived by ambulance checked his vital signs and performed an electrocardiogram, the results of which they said were normal..."
