So I know you all have your own tricks to help survive the damage done to our
skin by bandaids and other adhesives. I was always lucky, by the time the
bandaid just wore itself off, my wound was usually healed, so I've never had to
worry about it too much, I just let the adhesives wear them selves off. But...
The other day my doctor finally put me on the Duragesic patch. It bothers my
skin something fierce! I had to move it within the first 3 hours, and now I am
just about to rip it off again. Have any of you fellow EDS friends actually
survived the wearing of these patches? And how did you do it? Right now I
covered it with a bandaid so it would stay on, but now that stickum is driving
me nuts.
Another quick question about tapes. Normally when I have blood work done, or
IV's I just do my best to let the bandaid wear off, or SLOWLY remove the tapes.
I went in for a brain MRI, and after she injected the contrast, I thought I
heard her opening the wrapper of a bandaid. I could not see, since my head was
locked into this contraption, and it turns out she put about 6 inches of this
most horrible tape I have ever seen on the inside of my elbow. I was
TICKED...it left so much damage to my skin, and I tried my best to get it off as
best as possible. I remember some of you naming certain brands/kinds of tapes
that your skin actually survives the removal of....could you please resend those
names so I can begin a hunt for the next time some weird doctor tries to duct
tape some guaze on my arm?
Thanks so much for your help with my stickum issues! :)
